Journey adventure.

Yup... tightening those belts...

Oops. Colby painted himself into a corner there.

Idols and advantages are going to be the name of the game here... no real surprise that the fans would vote for the ability to make big changes.

Ahhhh... Coach. But you do play a dishonest game. Every time. So ya better get used to facing the mirror.

Colby being honest about not having a vote... that could work against him. And yup. There's Kyle thinking you can't even strategize when you don't have a vote.

Kyle... that's rough. But they did handle it such that it really was his choice even though they weren't going to give him a choice.

Idols are in! Yes. And interesting setup with that first idol.

Aubry's thought path on using it is even more interesting. And it makes me think... because she's basing her choice on past behavior. But...

1) People are thinking about how they want to play differently than they played before. Which brings me to another question about how much they actually can vs how much they think they can. Because some of it is inherent to who they ARE.

but also...

2) What happened before shapes what people do now. And if you went home with an idol in your pocket before... well, some people are going to learn from that. And she's not thinking at all about that part of the influences of past behavior.

And in Cila camp... yup, as expected, managed to make fire for themselves even without supplies.

oh my. Ozzy banding together with Cirie but he doesn't know about the massive target on her back yet... this is going to get messy fast.

Colby rethinking his opinion on Rizo... interesting. And Rizo's response to that is even more interesting. I would have seen Colby's comments to him as really condescending but they hit with him.

Over to Kalo....

Johnathon... oh I do remember this guy. He was the Hulk guy.

And there goes Coach... "I will never betray you in this game"... that's the first sign that you can only trust him for maybe two tribals at most.

And again with the picking targets early! (talking to Chrissy).

Ohhhhhhhhh. That's why I remember disliking Kamilla. She's ready to backstab and blindside from the getgo. Not prepared to. READY to.

Some of these mini groups forming are definitely going to be fun to watch feeding off each other's energy.

Immunity/Reward Challenge.

Vatu out to a lead again. They clearly have the ability to identify who can do what best.

Cila and Kalo right on their heels.

Oh.... and then Kalo jumped up up... but that puzzle at the end is really going to even it out again.

Nice work with Kyle...

Cirie was not the right person put got it in the end. Cila is way back though...

and yup. That was it for them.

Welp... I guess we're gonna find out if Cirie survives the first tribal.

Vote conversations... these are exactly as messy as I thought it would be.

Oops... Ozzy has tipped his hand too much and now he's in danger. Jeff is going to mine the hell out of this when they get to tribal...

That was some slick understatement driving a direction from Devens.

And... I think I called that one a few hours back...

Thanks to the wonders of the DVR, season 50 of Survivor has been recording itself and is ready for me to binge now! :)

"In the hands of the fans".... hmmm. Sounds like they'll be doing early Big Brother style choices where we get to vote on certain options, which is not quite the same as really not in the hands of the producers, but it will certainly be an interesting twist.

Cast thoughts:

Super all-stars season essentially. That should be fun to watch since most of them have seen each other's seasons or heard about how each other played, etc. And they'll bring that in with them as they decide who to work with and how.

Jenna - I didn't watch the original season, I don't have a strong sense of who she is.
Colby - LOVE Colby. Super happy to see him back.
Stephanie: I remember liking her but not much about how she played
Cirie - will be interesting to see if she goes for the hero or the villain path this time.
Ozzie - Didn't see his first season, did see his second season, happy to see him here. If nothing else, he's easy on the eyes. ;P
Coach - Fun to hate on. He annoys me SO much, but not in an "I want to turn off the tv now" way.
Aubry - a relatively subtle player from what I vaguely remember
Chrissy - Fun to theorize what she's going to do next, but I would never want to have to work with her.
Christian - missed his season, don't know anything about him.
Angelina - ditto
Mike - ditto - and... 3 players from the same season? I have to guess that a few people they really wanted weren't available.
Rick Devins - annoying but fun to watch.
Johnathan - not really ringing a bell. I think he might become familiar via flashbacks.
Dee - I remember HATING Dee but not why.
Emily - I do not remember here. Not sure if that's because I missed her season?
Q - Q is one of those people who just annoys me on principle. Fun at points but he is Drama Overload.
Tiffany - I am neutral on Tiffany. I remember rooting both for and against her at points.
Charlie Davis - not familiar with him. Must have missed his season.
Genevieve - Must have missed hers too.
Kamilla - I remember rooting for and against her.
Kyle - no strong opinions on Kyle.
Joe - Happy to see him back. Strong competitor, good heart. If a bit overdramatic at points.
Rizo - I missed this season, no idea who he is.
Savannah - likewise, missed the season.

Who isn't here who I would love to have here - Malcolm.

Jeff - Jeff is clearly in the running for the Carson Daly slot of youngest old person.

I've been watching so I'll keep my lips sealed. Lately I've been yelling at the TV in regard to two of the people you don't remember. That's all I'll say. Enjoy.

Yay! I don't know if I'll get to finish episode 1 tonight. My husband will shortly insist on giving me the night time cold dose that will force me to sleep instead of staying up and watching.

It will still be there another night. Hope you feel better soon.

3 tribe setup again.

Ooooh. Jeff got me. He set that up well on the Rice choice. Interesting that it was that close, I would have expected the "earn the rice" choice to be a faraway winner.

Supplies - no surprise on that choice either.

Hah. As predicted - the producers are still in charge. Race for ONE tribe to get it, not all of them having to pass a challenge to get it.

Vatu seems to be doing the best job of figuring out roles to get the right people doing the right things.

Cela (sp?) not far behind and nice to see it's not a runaway. Unevenly balanced tribe groups suck.

Kalo - I don't think they thought through that first part of the challenge well. Couldn't recover even with several different legs/types of challenges on the other legs.

Coach vs Ozzy vs Q for a supplies battle... I'd like to see Ozzy win this.

Starting off not just with flint but an already built fire is a huge advantage. I'm sure the other 2 camps will have fires going in quick order and not wait to be "granted" flint/fire, but being able to hop on building the shelter may mean a better planned/built shelter.

Rizo trying to tell Colby how to play... oh my. Yes, Colby is not famiiar with the newer players but he sure seems to still be able to size people up pretty well.

(I will start doing spoilers when I am only 1 episode behind)

Oooh. Interesting. Mike is the creator of White Lotus, apparently he did well post-Survivor.

Savannah telling people that she won her season - that's not the open book you want to be. Winners are always at a handicap. But Jenna knowing it's a lot more than just winning, you have to have made big memorable moves to be selected for 50... she's on her game. And ooooh. Targeting Cirie right off the bat. But she's talking WAYYYYYYY too early. Like WAYYYYY too early. She's showing her whole hand when they haven't even finished the shelter or gotten the results back from the supplies challenge. This could backfire on her hard.

Coach blaming Ozzy for not winning his season... uh. No. This is a lot of why I do not like Coach. Take responsibility for your own crap dude.

Supplies challenge... Ozzy out to a huge lead. Coach better stop watching him and get on it.

And hmmmmm.. not as straightforward as it looks... Love that.

ANd nope. There goes Coach being Coach again. Talking a lot about strength and honor and showing ZERO sportsmanship or honor.

This whole toe ring thing is giving me the ick.

Christian-Devens bromance... this could go really well for them or they could crash and burn fast. Will be interesting. For now at least.

And now we've pulled... Emily? in. Hmmmm.

Everyone is super focused on building the relationships and mini alliances and big alliances right now. Which is interesting because they're calling it the new way of playing Survivor, but it's really the old way ever since Hatch pioneered it in the first season.

Wonder what happened with Colby's hearing.

And oooh. I like the secondary supplies twist.

Bwahahaha. I appreciate Q spilling the tea on Coach even while not fully explaining his own handicap.
